Speed Controllers

Standel Dawman have been manufacturing and supplying speed controllers to the electric golf trolley industry for over 20 years. Today, our speed controllers can be found on many electric golf trolleys, including the market leading brands, worldwide.

Applications
Light to medium automotive e.g. electric golf trolleys and other small electrically powered trolleys / vehicles / carts / barrows.

Description
A variable speed control module with potentiometer for permanent magnet motors of up to 30A continous rating, preset to a standard 40A intermittent rating (maximum possible 50A); employing M.O.S.F.E.T. technology for maximum efficiency, typically 95% at any load.

Drive Module
Drive Module

Drive Module: Refs: DM/R (j); DM/R/M(j) (DM/R with meter fitted)

• Fitted as standard with a reverse polarity protective relay, rendering the unit inoperative should the battery connections be reversed.
• Circuit boards and components are coated in protective varnish, for use in hot and humid conditions, and allowing the unit to be repaired if damaged.
• Angled heatsink for fixing to the Standel Dawman aluminium cased gearbox, or for fixing to any metal surface for necessary heat dissipation.
• Casing: black ABS plastic.
• Meter is moving coil type battery status meter (low consumption 260 micro amps at full scale). The meter is usually fitted into the drive module where it is less vulnerable to knocks.
• Battery connection is via non-reversible plugs and sockets. The sockets are fitted to a separate lead, which is connected permanently to the battery, reducing the risk of a bad battery connection with crocodile clips.
• Handset connection is via a 3 pole 1/4 ” jack plug.
• 10K linear potentiometer required, switched or unswitched.

Handle/Handset Assembly Instructions

Both handles are supplied unassembled and may be fitted in a left/right handed or vertical position

Handle fitted with potentiometer/potentiometer lazy switch assembly fitting instructions

• Thread the lead up the golf trolley handle and connect to the potentiometer via the terminal block.
• Lay the potentiometer, or the potentiometer / lazy switch assembly in one side of the handle in the punched groove, taking care that the potentiometer terminals cannot touch the metal handle (which could cause an electrical short).

Handle I

• Assemble and fit the top three screws in the handle.
• Tighten the nut on the potentiometer, taking care not to over tighten, as the shaft could break, or the potentiometer could turn in the handle.
• Fit the handle to the trolley handle with the two counter sunk screws and nuts provided.

Handle II

• Tighten the nut on the potentiometer, taking care not to over tighten, as the shaft could break, or the potentiometer could turn in the handle.
• Screw both halves of the handle together and fit to the golf trolley handle with the two counter sunk screws and nuts provided.

N.B. Both handles may only be used with 3/4 square tubing.
